Holy King Solomon

King of the nation of twelve tribes (965-926/20 BC).  He was the second son of King David and Bathsheba, wife of Uriah the Hethite.  After David had erased his sins through the loss of his first child and his sincere remorse, Bathsheba was his lawful wife and queen. Nevertheless, it happened that the succession to the throne of Solomon was endangered by the revolt of Adonis, and his mother together with Nathan the Prophet hastily made sure that he was anointed king by the high priest Sadok.  His first act was to spare his rival’s life because he had grasped he horns of the fire victim. Solomon (called by God to be king) had probably action under the influence of the prophet Nathan who was his educator...
In early-Christian representations already, Solomon is portrayed to exemplify a wise ruler.  (Proverbs, 6th century, Royal Bible Copenhagen), as prophet in the painters’ manual (5) and in the succession of twelve sons, in the Middle Ages as a king in the family tree of Jesus Christ with twelve apostles, with twelve prophets and, in the row of kings.
Solomon is considered the author of the Proverbs, the Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon.
Above-mentioned manuscript of the Proverbs dating from the sixth century to be found in Copenhagen contains his picture as teacher of wisdom... On the choir stalls of Bamberg Cathedral in Germany he is shown with a barrel organ or playing the harp next to David.
In contrast to his glory, however, he is reproached by God for his idolatry and his many women.. Solomon enjoyed peace, wealth, respect, good living – all a man could ask for.  He lived as if in paradise, yet finally lost it through his own fault.
His wealth, the building of temples to honour the Lord,  his beneficial government…  "Judah and Israel lived in security from Dan to Bathsheba; all basked in the shade of his grape vines and his fig trees, as long as Solomon lived".  Thus he is praised and his fame recorded in the scripts.  In his latter years he was a magician, the great magician, bound to be obeyed by all on earth and below.  Man alone remains small.  The highest mountains throw the longest and widest shadows, conceal the deepest abysses. His death was recorded in simple words: “He fell asleep with his fathers and was buried in the City of David”.
