The great holy martyr Theodore Strateles

According to legend, the soldier's saint Theodoros Stratelates comes from Euchaita in Asia Minor.  He was a military leader in Herakleia.  In the presence of Emperor Licinius he refused orders to present sacrifices to the gods and destroyed valuable gold and silver idol statues and gave the shards to the poor.  He was whipped, tortured with nails and fire, incarcerated and then crucified.  But an angel appeared to him and he was saved.
The leaders of armies, Antiochus and Patriklius, converted to Christinity.  Theodoros ended the bloodshed and freed those who had been wrongly condemned. Finally, Emperor Licinius had him executed in the year 319 AD.
