Apostle Andrew

Apostle Andrew
Apostle Andrew (Andre, Andrieu, Andrea)

After his baptism by John the Baptist, he followed Christ with his brother Simon Peter (John 1,35-42) to the Sea of Galilee where he left his boat and joined the twelve to spread the gospel (Matthew 4,19).  Although he was probably among the twelve at the Last Supper, at Ascension Day and at Pentecost, he was not mentioned specifically again. Legends say he preached the Gospel to the Scythes, freed the captured Matthew and restored eyesight to the blinded.  There are stories of miracle-working and healing.  Andrew, who is considered the author of the second article, is named last in the Credo.  But he is also given second place of importance after John 1,35.  He is especially revered in Russia and in Scotland.
